I feel like their design philosphy is off. If geared properly you should be able to slap regular enemies into orbit on command, with all the gorey goodness that entails. Now it feels more like a action combat game with some payoff every min or two. That way you can get more chances at gear while seeing all the cool explosions on screen. The only challenge should be from Bosses and Elite packs. To me (perhaps im wrong here) Diablo was always about gearing out to nuke large amounts of regular monsters. Cant just break and entire playstyle for a class and be like “yea thats fine for a few days”. TBH if they actually cared this would have been fixed after the first few hours. Feels like the real bosses are the hotfix drops. Yea not going to play a game long term where I constantly have to fight the Dev team to have fun.

"It was down on power and I can't figure out why," Calvert says. To break the record in his class, he needs to top 206.858 mph on two runs. He peels off the track and waits for Tripp to push him to the timing booth adjacent to the pit area. People die on the salt, he knows, but he keeps it under control through the last timing station, and then finally eases off the gas. For the first time in his racing career, Calvert feels the car start to skid sideways, and he tastes real fear. At the 2-mile mark he passes the first timing station. The periscope vibrates so wildly that all Calvert can see is a blur of white and blue. drag-racing tires churning the bumpy salt, the race car leaps away from the van: 75 mph, 100, 150. At 50 mph, Calvert drops the clutch and floors the accelerator. The race car's speedometer twitches to life: 15 mph, 30, 40. On a signal from the chief starter, Tripp puts the '85 Chevy push van in gear and shoves Calvert across the starting line and onto the track. He disengages the clutch, fires up the engine and revs his modified Nissan V6, which booms out a rolling roar. After a year of planning and building, tuning and tinkering, the time has come for Calvert to push his car to the limit. Orange flags, a pair per measured mile, recede into the heat-hazed distance. And all he can see is an expanse of empty whiteness split by two black lines that mark the 5-mile-long, 90-ft.-wide timing course of the renowned Bonneville Salt Flats. Sealed inside his machine, Calvert stares into a periscope prism, looking upward in order to see straight ahead. He scoots his legs forward until he's lying nearly flat on his back, then watches as his chief mechanic, Gary Tripp, lowers and secures the hatch over him. Gary Calvert, a 65-year-old member of the Muckleshoot tribe, lowers himself into the coffin-size cockpit of a 14-ft.-long cigar-shaped race car that he built back home in tiny Enumclaw, Wash. It’s pretty simple: subtract attacker’s hit bonus from the target’s AC. I predict very salty players when the rule works against them. I'm trying to figure whether to try it out in my mid-level game or not. 5e DMG: page 250 as a complete mass combat system The 5e DMG has a short section on “handling mobs:” it has a chart for approximating, out of a group of attacking monsters, how many monsters hit. Basically, you roll on a d10 table for system shock if you take in excess of half your max hit points in a single hit, should you fail the CON save. The math: What’s a better model of making 20 attack rolls: this system or the DMG system? Both are pretty good, actually, but mine exactly matches in most situations (whenever you need to roll a 6 to 16 to hit) while the DMG system is better at modeling corner cases (you need to roll a natural 20 to hit or you only miss on a 1).
